Born in Yorkshire in 1960, and proud of his northern roots, Dave Hardy always portrayed a natural talent for art and sculpture. One of his proudest moments was having some of his work selected for display at a Henry Moore exhibition in Wakefield. In his studies, Dave was drawn towards the work of Brancusi, Rembrandt, Turner and others, but his path was irrevocably turned towards photography by the ground-breaking camera work of Henri Cartier-Bresson.

Rebelling against the prospect of art school to develop further, Dave chose to learn from the 'university of life' and set out on travels that took him to Asia, Australasia and Hong Kong, where he sought out spiritual learning through his photography, training in martial arts, and mountain climbing. From these deeper, aesthetic experiences comes the spirit of Dave's work - the power to create photographic art with contrast, dimension and mood.
